Forsaken
Hide not Your face from me: turn not Your servant away in anger, You Who have been my help! Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation! Although my father and mother have forsaken me, yet the Lord will take me up [adopt me as His child].
Psalm 27: 9,10
Amplified
To be forsaken means is not something anyone in their right mind would look forward to. Even Christ called out to His Father, "why have you forsaken me" when He was on the cross. To be forsaken means that someone you cherish, no longer cherishes you ... it means that someone has left you and abandoned you. It can be a time of great loneliness and questions.
But let's face it, some relationships matter more than others. To be forsaken by a "sometimey" friend is really not a big deal. But to be forsaken by a mother or father (assuming that you are close) is a hard place to be. The saying goes, that even if nobody loves you, your momma does.
At the time of this writing my biological brother has forsaken me. I really do not know why. It is not because of anything I have done ... really, it is not. That last time we were together we had the best of time and there was a promise of getting together soon. I love my brother and I am sure that he still loves me. But for some reason he has decided to cut his ties with me. It hurts. It is something that I pray about and I believe that we will be together again.
But when I think about being abandoned by my brother, it pales in comparison of being abandoned by God ... of God hiding His face from me. How grateful I am that He has promised to never leave me nor forsake me. And that is a promise I can count on because Jesus, as my Savior, allowed Himself to be forsaken by God so that I would never have to know what it means to forsaken by God.
Thank you Jesus.
