What Do You Hear?

So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by preaching [of the message that comes from the lips] of Christ (the Messaiah Himself).

What you hear can change your life ... for better or for worse. Our faith, what we believe to be true (about ourselves, our world, and our God) is determined by what we hear. Usually, we have to hear something over and over again before we begin to believe that something is true, but there are times when just one comment can change our lives forever. It could be, "you sure are ugly" from a boy we have a crush on while in the 5th grade or it could be, "you are great at science, you should be a doctor", from a trusted teacher as we are making career plans.

Faith, the substance of things hoped for - the evidence of things not seen, is necessary to please God and to accomplish the plan that He has for our lives. Faith, is what we -- followers of Jesus Christ-- are to live by every day. But our level of faith and what we have faith in is determined by what and who we listen to day after day. Faith, that is faith in God, comes by hearing the word of God. If you are in a place in your life where you are not hearing the word of God (you are not listening in prayer to God, you are not reading the word of God, you are not attending church) you are listening to a voice other than God.

So who and what are you listening to these days? Are you too busy to pray? Too tired to attend church? Can't remember the last time you read your Bible outside of church? ... Then you are developing a faith that is apart from God (even if you believe in Him). Faith in God comes from hearing what God has to say ... every day. Make a life change ... develop your faith in the One and True Living God, hear what He has to say today. It will change your life!
