Finding Favor

"So shall you find favor, good understanding, and high esteem in the sight [or judgement] of God and man." Proverbs 3:4 AMP
I will not lie, I want favor! My pastor describes favor as "benefits, blessings, gifts, joy, freedom, reconciliation, and satisfaction". I like the way that sounds. Favor from man is a good thing; favor from God is even better. And the best thing is the understanding that I can have favor from both God and man.
I believe favor is a part of the "life more abundantly" that Jesus promised. A life of favor will not guarantee that bad things will not happen, but it does mean that it will be easier to get THROUGH the bad times; it means that our needs will be met; it means that we can be excited about tomorrow ... because we know that favor awaits us.
But a life of favor is not automatic. It will cost you something. Proverbs 3 begins with strong instruction about keeping and obeying the Word of God. A life of favor is possible, but it takes hearing and obeying the Word of God. Not just the parts that we like, but all of the Bible. So if you are in need of more favor from God and man (and who doesn't need or want more favor), then follow the instruction provided in Proverbs chapter 3 and you will find favor.
