On the first Sunday of 2007 my pastor, Robert Melton, Jr., gave a very inspiring message, it was very appropriate for the beginning of a new year. His theme was "turning a corner" and he talked about overcoming those things that hinder us from living a life fully transformed by Christ. It was something I needed to hear. There are many things that are working right in my life; but the no matter how many "good" things I have going for me, I still need to address the things that are not so right. You know those little things that keep me from living fully free from every "little" sin.
Turning The Corner, finally being free of every little sin is something that I am going to try harder to do. "Turning the Corner" reminds me of Deuteronomy 1:6 , which says in part, "you have dwelt long enough on this mountain." When I think of those "little" sins in my life and, instead of thinking "O, that is not so bad" - think, Lord, what do You think about this. I can hear Him say, "Michelle, you have dwelt on this mountain long enough." My little sin might as well be a mountain as far as God is concerned. Sin is sin and all sin creates a separation between myself and God. In this new year (or new month, new week, new day, new hour! whenever the truth hits!) it is time for me to turn the corner on my little sins. How about you? What things are holding you back from living fully for Christ? Surrender those little things to God and turn the corner to a new life..
