Auntie

God is good. Another miracle, a new life, has been added to the my extended family. I'm a new auntie! I am so proud of my sister and brother-in-law, this is their first child. Mom and baby are doing well. We haven't had a baby in the family for sixteen years ... since my youngest child.

I am a new auntie and I am giving thanks to God. At this stage in my life, when I am past the age of childbearing and sometimes wonder if there is any good in this world, I thank God for babies; they remind me that there is still good in the world. They remind me that God is still in the miracle business. There are days, too many days, that I need a reminder that miracles do happen.

But this time, this tiny reminder that God is still in the miracle business will be a more lasting reminder. I am an auntie ...
